| What a long day!!! Our kids were definitely fighters today. I am so proud of them, and I know the rest of the coaching staff is too!! We managed to go to a very big invitational with a high degree of competition and look pretty good. Berkley athletes really represented themselves very well. We got some great performances and gutsy efforts on this very nice April day. Our girls team showed some very good versatility, as we picked up small points in lots of events for a 6th place tie out of 17 teams. This is tremendous considering it was our first meet and for how young we are. The boys got some strong performances from some key individuals to score 45 points for a 5th place finish. |

| Yow's List Boys Athlete of the Meet: Paul Vance. He scored 22 points including a 3rd in the open 200 and a second in the open 400. Girls Athlete of the Meet: Chelsea Smith. In a tough distance field today, Chelsea put out personal bests of 5:43 in the mile and 12:22 in the 2-mile. The 2-mile performance was a 4th place finish. Going to be a star soon: Tiara Mosley and Steve Fohey. These two rookie throwers had unbelievable days and they haven't even had that much practice in yet. Most surprising performance: The Boys 4 x 100 and the girls 4 x 800. With flawless handoffs and without Kris Morrell, the boys 4 x 100 ran a 46.2 en route to a 4th place finish. Rookie Cameron Lampkin ran an impressive 3rd leg. The girls 4 x 800, led by a beautiful 2:25 opening leg by Jenna Nusholtz, got us off to a fantastic start. It is noteworthy to state that between Samantha Padgett, Jenna, Anna Stotland, and Taylor Lockridge, they had exactly one 800 m race of previous experience combined!! |
